Tuscany

One of the most romantic places on earth lies in central Italy. As if you are looking at an old oil painting, the vineyard covered hills will make you fall in love. The small villages of Tuscany are surrounded by impressive fortresses. These fortresses tell a tale of a long withstanding rivalry between Florence and Siena. Today, these historical memories of conflict have turned into wineries, art museums and extraordinary accommodations.

Chianti- Italians most famous wine region offers a wide variety of styles, anything between big and impressive to your basic tables wine. Thousands of wineries to taste from and so little time. So, unless you decide to move to Tuscany and dedicate your life to familiarizing yourself with the region (which is a great idea) you would want to know where to go, which wines to taste and who to meet.
Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano – Some may say these are the best wines in Tuscany, others will say the finest of all of Italy. The power and elegant Sangiovese wines are a perfect reflection of their environment. With a glass of wine in your hand and a paper bag filled with roasted chestnuts you may leisurely stroll in the medieval hill town of Montalcino or in the picturesque streets of Renaissance town of Montepulciano. Oh Italy!
Bolgheri and Super Tuscan- the rebels of the region. In the 1940’s the Antinori Family started growing international wine grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon for family consumption only, at the Sassicaia winery (official name: Tenuta San Guido). Only in 1967 the secret came out and Sassicaia winery started selling their wines for exuberant amount on money. People applauded. Yesterday’s rebel has become today’s leader. The region lies at the western seaside of Italy so be sure to bring a bathing suit.
