Alsace, France’s eastern most wine region, was part of Germany for many disputed years. It was a contested region through the 19th and 20th century and the wines are French but made from German varietals. Storybook villages seem more German than French in Alsace. The food, starting with the famous sauerkraut seems more German than French. And yet this is France in full. And the spectacular wines are 100% French in their strength and their expression.

Bordeaux is, simply, the most important wine producing region in the world. Its wines are copied but never equaled. The region is the most important quality wine producing region in France and it is vast.
